Principals and Staff Providers

Ronald C. Fish, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience in a wide variety of treatment modalities and populations. He has worked extensively on the treatment of couples, and has published articles on marital therapy and sex therapy in professional journals. He has received the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy's highest earned designation, Approved Supervisor. Dr. Fish is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine State University of New Work’s Upstate Medical University. He was awarded the American Psychological Association's Certificate of Proficiency in the treatment of alcohol and substance use disorders.

Dr. Fish has developed behavioral medicine programs employing a psychoeducational approach for fibromyalgia and diabetes. In addition, he has published papers on hypnosis and given talks on stress management, fibromyalgia, depression, and marital enhancement. Joel Richman, Ph.D., has been practicing psychology for over twenty-five years. He specializes in the use of cognitive and behavioral techniques, including biofeedback, in the treatment of a variety of psychological and psychophysiological disorders. These include the anxiety disorders such as panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and phobias, as well as depression, chronic pain, headache, and personality disorders.

Dr. Joel Richman

Dr. Richman works both with individuals and with couples who are experiencing problems in their relationships. In addition, he performs psychological and forensic evaluations to assess cognitive and emotional functioning. He is currently serving as a professional community representative to the Excellus Behavioral Health Quality Committee. Dr. Richman is the Administrative Director for PHC and Centre Syracuse, a partial hospital program for the treatment of eating disorders.

John H. Wohlers, Ph.D., has been in the private practice of psychology since 1975. Dr. Wohlers specializes in the application of cognitive and behavioral intervention strategies with a variety of psychological and psychophysiological disorders, but especially eating disorders and anxiety disorders. In addition, he is trained in the application of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing with victims of trauma and with individuals struggling with simple and complex phobias. Dr. Wohlers conducts outpatient group psychotherapy for individuals with eating disorders and conducts a group for individuals with personality disorders in dialectical behavioral therapy skills training. Dr. Wohlers served as Clinical Service Chief of the Eating Disorders Unit at the Benjamin Rush Center in Syracuse from 1984 to 1994, and as Director of the Eating Disorders Program at Benjamin Rush Center from1994 to1998. He is the Clinical Director for Centre Syracuse, a partial hospital program for the treatment of eating disorders.

Dr. John Wohlers

Jeanette S. Angeloro, C.S.W.-R, is a certified social worker with over 25 years of clinical experience working with adults in individual, couple and group therapy, more recently, her special interests have included use of short term psychodynamic interventions as well as dialectical behavior therapy; she has been intensely trained in both these areas. She also works at St. Joseph's Hospital Mental Health Services in both a clinical and management capacity, which includes staff training and supervision as well as coordination of student training program.

Debbie S. Bates, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, who has over ten years of experience treating and evaluating adults and adolescents with a broad range of mental health problems. She is especially interested in the treatment of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, weight problems, stress reactions, and addictions, and emphasizes brief therapy models when appropriate. Dr. Bates is also certified in the treatment of substance use disorders.

Jacqueline C. Berry, LCSW-R,is a board certified diplomate in clinical social work. In addition to having maintained a private practice for more than 24 years, she is an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate School of Social Work at Syracuse University where she has taught for 17 years. Her therapy interests include working with adults, adolescents, and families, with a special interest in working with couples experiencing difficulties in relationships, stress, anxiety, and depression.

Antonietta Chairmonte, LCSW-R, is a certified clinical social worker with over 7 years experience working with adults, adolescents, couples, families, and groups. Judith J. Crosley, LCSW-R, has been a psychotherapist for over twenty years. Ms. Crosley received her M.S.W. from Smith College School of Social Work, and is a certified Clinical Social Worker. She provides psychotherapy for all ages, and has a particular interest in working with children over six years of age and adolescents. She is well known in the community for her parenting skills training groups, as well as for her workshops on intrafamilial communication. Ms. Crosley is trained in the use of EMDR and short-term dynamic psychotherapy.

Deborah Di Niro, Ph.D., has experience with individuals, families, and groups, and enjoys work with children as young as 7 as well as the geriatric population. James Dodd, LCSW-R, is a certified social worker with over thirteen years of clinical experience and a former employee of St. Joseph's Hospital where he worked in both the inpatient and outpatient psychiatric programs. He has experience treating sexual abuse problems having led therapy groups for both survivors and perpetrators of sexual abuse. He works with adults with a wide range of presenting problems including mood and personality disorders, grief and loss, delusional disorders and he has had a special interest in the treatment of marital problems and divorce recovery.

Douglas Dufore, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the diagnoses and treatment of children from birth to school age up to ten years. Dr. Dufore completed the Irving Harris Training Program in child development and infant mental health at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is currently employed part time at the Special Preschool Interaction for Children's Education at the Elmcrest Children's Center. Dr. Dufore treats children and their families with individual, dyadic, or family therapy, and specializes in working with infants, toddler, kindergarten, and school age children.

David Friedman, Ph.D.*, is a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience in the treatment of severe mental illness and personality disorders. He is interested in working with adults with depression, anxiety and relationship issues and has been exploring the use of Eastern techniques (e.g., meditation) and 12-Step approaches in traditional psychotherapy. Judy Hayman, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist. Dr. Hayman completed a one-year fellowship program in Rehabilitation Medicine and Neuropsychology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. She has experience working with a variety of populations and treatment modalities. Dr. Hayman works with adults in the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and stress management. Dr. Hayman specializes in neuropsychological assessment and treatment of adults with traumatic or acquired brain injury. She also provides psychological evaluation of adults assessing emotional and cognitive function, diagnosis of attentional disorders, and presurgical evaluations for adults considering bypass surgery. She has experience with geriatric populations.
